Windsor Police open access to Huron Church Road at Malden Road

Windsor police opened another intersection along Huron Church Road on Tuesday as the road continues to be blocked over fears protesters may return to block the Ambassador Bridge.

In a tweet, police said Malden Road at Huron Church Road is open to traffic from all directions.

Other key intersections remain blocked by police.

Over the weekend, Tecumseh Road West was also opened at Huron Church Road, although business owners and residents told CBC News they were still impacted by the closures.

Many businesses on the road are difficult to access with large cement barriers lining the road preventing vehicles from entering parking lots, and pedestrians and motorists were only able to cross Huron Church Road at points specific.

Although the bridge has been reopened to traffic, the city and Windsor police are allowing limited access to roads in the area for fear that more protests could start and further restrict access to the bridge.

Federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra arrived in Windsor on Tuesday saying he would meet those affected by the blockade.
