WATCH NOW: Get to Know: Josiah Litant, MSC SE Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students | Local

Q: What are your favorite hobbies?

A: “Some of my favorite things are reading, especially thrillers, and I’m a little obsessed with politics. I enjoy working around the house on repair and improvement projects. And right now my kids and I really love card games, especially Uno. So we play a lot of Uno in our house.

Q: What made you want to work in your current role?

A: “When my family moved to Minnesota, I was looking for a job in higher education. And I was very clear that I wanted to be in a community or technical college. I care a lot about access and our open access mission has really inspired me. And there is such a great need, especially in the trades, for educated and talented newcomers to these fields. And so it was about a week after we moved here that the job that I am now doing opened up here. It matched my experience in higher education and student affairs perfectly. And I jumped on it. And I feel very lucky to be here ever since.

Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?

A: “I love working with people and love constantly changing and changing challenges. So we’re always looking to figure out what’s next for us to do to further improve our support for our students. So I like to do this job every day.

Q: What are your goals for the future?

A: “So I like living in Winona and being a committed member of the community. So I always seek to deepen my commitment and my involvement in our local community, both professionally but also on a personal level by living here in the city. And, of course, other goals are just to continue supporting my children. I have two children – eight and five – and I support them in their activities and things that interest them. And I’m just trying to make a difference in any way I can in our local and regional community.
