Frisco students and school staff will have priority access to free COVID-19 tests

Frisco ISD announced on Tuesday that students and staff will have free priority access to COVID-19 testing after partnering with Nomi Health, a direct healthcare company that coordinates testing and immunization efforts across the country.

A district press release said the partnership had emerged to “ensure that students and staff have quick and convenient access to free PCR and antigen testing in the community.”

The rapid test site – located at northwest corner of Technology Drive and World Cup Way – now has a priority access line for Frisco ISD staff and students.

“We know that the availability of COVID-19 tests plays an important role in response and mitigation efforts,” said Brent Benningfield, executive director of support services at FISD. “We are grateful that Nomi Health has offered to provide a priority access line to our students and staff, which will benefit the health and safety of our campuses and the community as a whole.”

According to the press release, individuals can obtain a PCR test or COVID-19 antigen test via an on-site nasal swab, with PCR results returned in 24-48 hours and the antigen test in approximately 1 hour. time.

The district statement also said that this partnership will help campus staff members meet rapid testing requirements in accordance with the public health advice published August 19 by the Texas Education Agency.

Students and staff are not required to use Nomi Health, but the press release says the district hopes the FISD community will use this opportunity as one of many ways to “slow the spread” of COVID-19.

How to get tested

The test is free. However, insurance information will be requested from those who have insurance coverage. Staff members must arrive with their FISD staff identification badge, and student cards will be requested in order to access the priority lane. Younger students without a student card must identify themselves as Frisco ISD students.

The priority access lane is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., although periodic closures are possible due to community events.
